One-way relevant links: how can I get them (without paying for them?)

I don't understand the one-way relevant link thing. Given time it will happen, of course, but how to make it happen now, without paying for it (doesn't that sound like cheating? Howabout I pay you to set up a website about handbags and then link to me? Whoopie.) I don't understand how to get relevant links in a timely fashion. I mean, I will be 115 years old before eLuxury links to UnusualThreads.com (if then =)

Welcome to the search engine optimization forum section of Affiliate Watchdogs.

To get the discussion going, let's talk about Google. With the new update of "Big Daddy" by Google, there has come a few changes that not many webmasters have been paying attention to yet.

Google is now looking at your websites TrustRank. This is not the same as PageRank. Trust is about:

- how long has your webite been on the web for

- how much content do you have

- what are your outgoing links and how trustworthy are they

- what are your incoming links and how trustworthy are they

For brand new websites, this is not good. You have to build trust with Google slowly. It can now take 18-24 months to build high TrustRank with Google. And in that time, you have to make sure not to screw it up! MSN and Yahoo are much more liberal.

So, the discussion for today is how do you build trust with Google? Please start off the first post reply and let us know what you think.

Business Directory listings

What business directories would you recommend listing you clients site with?
I am referring to sites like jayde.com, a sort of standard listings maybe?

Also, where would you recommend researching buying one way links that are specific/relevant to your clients business?
