Factors to be considered before selecting an affiliate product for promotion

am new to affiliate marketing. can anyone tel me what are the different factors tat are to be considered before selecting one affiliate product for promoting through our website other than commisson rate, frequency of payment,quality of the landing page etc.

Making the most of Myspace?

Hitwise reports MySpace generates more traffic to online shopping and classified sites than MSN.

Has anyone considered social networking sites as a source of additional traffic?

I would love to hear about anyone trying to harnes the potential of Myspace/Tribe/Friendster and other social networking sites.

Are the big hitters the only ones taking advantage of these sites?

Any info on how to take advantage of these sites would be great.

Things I've done:

Signed up with Clickbank.
Signed up with Linkshare.
paid to have Income University and Blue Host provide me with an already set up website. There are 341 web pages in the following categories: cartips,credit report,search, shopping and travel.
I signed up with google adsense and amazon. I followed the instructions for adding my "code" to the websites.
I've even added a few webpages of my own to the original domain.

So here's what I don't get....and remember I'm a newbie...

How will adsense and amazon be sending traffic to my webpages?

I go into my adsense account and it shows only that I have data avail for content-nothing next to search or refer. When I go there it shows 9 impressions in 2 days. When I go to Amazon it shows 0 impressions. How am I supposed to get traffic to my webpages so that they will click on the adsense and amazon links?

I will be more than happy to promote the web pages myself, but there are so many "scams" out there, that I don't know what the best one to use is. Recently I saw an ad to purchase "ad blaster" software. Anyone ever use that? Is it any good?

Please help with any advice you can give me.

Where do I Start?

Thank you for this service. It has been wonderful. I must admit, my eyes rolled back and my mind went into the clouds day dreaming about the inexaustable amounts of money I would reap from my new venture into affiliate marketing. I guess I stumbled into this world unexpectedly, and some powerful sales copy swept me away. So, hear I am 10 days later and on info overload. I don't have a website, or any knowledge of how to build one. Where do I begin?

- I have found some programs through click bank I would like to promote but this is only a start. Can I successfully market niche products through e-zines?

-Do you have any experience with namestick for hiding affiliate links?

-Is it important to hide affiliate links when advertising in e-zines?

-I would like to open a presales page website (or many), but don't know where to turn. Can you recomend a specific software, or service to help get me started.

-I have seen the recomendation to use adsense to guage market response. Does this advise aply to presales pages meant only for directing traffic to affiliate programs?

-I feel I have some promising ideas, but lack precious experience. Is affiliate marketing a viable way to make a lucrative fulltime income.

I’m really REALLY new to this marketing thing… Help me Obi Wan Kenobis, you’re my only hope!
I’m doing an affiliate thing for a money making product. My daily budget is $30.00 and so far with the keywords I’ve used
I’ve only gotten 20 freaking clicks to 985 impressions. My CPC is .30 and I’ve noticed that on some of the more “Grande” keywords,
And by this I mean that everyone is using them…. My position is like 16-20 in some keyphrases.
I feel like giving up… Any help? Please? What am I doing wrong?
Oh yeah, I’m also using one group of keywords… Like
Make money
Make money online.
Yadda, yadda, yadda.
If I add like several groups of keywords across 5 different ads, my CTR drops, no?
Also, what if I split test? Like maybe five ads around five different key phrases? Is the $30 daily still feasible?
And this last thing… How do I separate keyword phrases for separate ads, or is this possible? I’m using AdWords.
Is it really true that you can make up to $200 a day?

I wanted to say that I think that Linkshare is a good and reputable affiliate program. They have several large name companies that you can apply to be an affilate for. [i.e. Cingular, Overstock.com, David's Cookies, Linens n Things] You do have to have a website that they can check out before they will approve you.

So far I've only added links for the various companies to my emails, and I've posted their banners etc on my webpages that I created myself. I do see that with just that little bit, people are clicking!

I'm wondering how the best way to market these great products is.

Any ideas?

Would it be better to:
1) write the articles and post them within the site
2) create a blog on blogger.com, and point to the clients site
3) create a blog on his own domain

Directory listings, how to list several services?

My client has been offering yoga classes and workshops, so all our directory listings have us listed as that, and point to the appropriate pages concerning classes and workshops.

Now my client is wanting to sell "yoga" stuff on his site. (clothing,dvd's,etc)
Would it be best to go list us in new directories as a "yoga store" and point all the links inside the site to the store?

I use a combination of Wordtracker and Overture to assist me in finding the most relevant keywords for a clients site.

Do you have any other tools you would recommend for my "keyword tool belt"?
And do you have any comments on these tools, and how to use them in combination to get the best results?

And how often are you checking on these keywords and changing your Adwords campaign?

Has anyone had experience with this DKI (dynamic keyword insertion) tool that can be used in Adwords?

I can see it being a huge timesaver for PPC managers that have to type the same keywords over and over........but what happens in regard to copywriting and using it on smaller projects?

You would still need to go in and "bold" appropriate words and customize it wouldn't you?

Choosing the right content based on keywords

I have a client that does real estate in washington (state).

Would you recommed they do a site like www.washingtonrealestate.com (lets say "washington real estate" gets 14,000 hits a month) or should he choose www.seattlerealestate.com (lets say this particlular city gets 468,000 hits).

Is it better to have a specific site that caters to that large number of searches, or is it better to have the whole state in this case, and just have a sub menu page that caters to that hard hitting search term?

Most of his business is in seattle, but he still would be able to service the entire state. It is just that most of the income will be coming from that one city and it's outlining towns/cities.

We are a UK based company specialising in dropshipping products all over the world, and we also sell websites preinstalled with our products.

Affiliates will be paid 25% of all sales generated to our website.

Combine idea into 1 site or 2?

My client has an idea to start a site that has to deal with yoga.
since there are many types and styles of yoga, we are not sure if we should start one site and talk about different subjects (teacher training schools, hatha, ashtanga, iyengar, etc..etc) or just have one site to talk about yoga schools, and another site to talk about the different styles and benefits.

At what point do I start another site?
Would it be better to combine all that info into one site?
Would it be beneficial to have the 2 linking to each other for more info or just linking inside one site?

Should the client choose which subject is searched more on the internet (say "yoga schools" is getting 10 thousand more hits than a specific type of yoga, like "ashtanga") would you recommend to choose putting all our effort into that one site and once that is started put our efforts into the one that gets less searches?

Since you have stated that this is "dead", what should I do with the pages of links I have exchanged over the past few years?

Is it good to delete them all together?

My Google Adsense numbers seem to fluctuate wildly

I have only had Adsense installed on some of the pages on my website for about a week, but notice that the numbers seem to fluctuate wildly. I would expect the numbers to roughly track my traffic (at least the impressions) but that doesn't seem to be the case. Is a week too short a time frame to even be looking at these numbers?

I understand that turning off Content Match helps avoid paying for low quality clicks from sites built solely to serve ads and am trying that beginning today.

My question is about which key words to buy. For example, "Gucci" is expensive (partly because I am competing with very big boys. . . .Neiman Marcus, Saks, etc.) So my thought would be to buy, for example, "Gucci Amalfi Tote # 154375." Cheap to buy because very few people are going to search exactly that way, but if I get one I know they are specifically looking for what I have to sell.

But, do I buy "Gucci Amalfi Tote # 154375 Black" or "Gucci Amalfi Tote # 154375," or "Gucci Amalfi Tote" or "Gucci Amalfi?" I realize I can buy all of them, but at what point are there just too many words in the "key word?"

We own an online business specializing in authentic designer handbags. We have a links page referencing a few other businesses we trust (to only sell authentic merchandize.) It seems obvious we should list the companies we affiliate with here, but I don't really understand "affiliate marketing" beyond that. Are you talking about those many sites that are nothing more than a list of ads?

I'm somewhat new at this online business stuff, and I very much understand that those who spend more money, have more and do better. I'm on a very limited budget and trying to make a little pocket change with a store that I have recently opened. kats1stop.com

With that said my question is, what can I do to get a good search ranking without spending alot of money-preferably no money. I'm not really looking for free stuff, I'm just limited and believe I need alot of help on my website. I intend to increase the content 10 fold but that is going to take some time for it is limited also. So any info about anything that I can do to let people know I'm out there or to better my website will surely be greatly appreciated
